How can I install the EOS Firewall later?

When I last reinstalled EOS KDE, I deselected the EOS firewall in Calamares because I thought I could do without it. Now I want to install it again, along with the taskbar widget. Which packages do I need to install for this?

Hi mate,
You’ll need firewalld and plasma-firewall

During the previous installation, I also installed the EOS firewall, but not the Plasma firewall. I then accessed the UI via the widget. Unfortunately, I don’t know which package the widget was part of.

I’m not familiar with the Plasma firewall’s user interface. Is it configured similarly?

I installed the firewall at the time of installing my system and those are the two packages which got installed.
The widget was there by default.

You don’t want to use plasma-firewall. Instead, use the UI that is included with firewalld

Thx @dalto , do I also need to activate the firewalld.service?

Oh, that’s interesting, so can I remove plasma-firewall

Yes:

systemctl enable --now firewalld.service

Yes, you shouldn’t need it.

If you (or anyone else) decides to use ufw with KDE rather than firewalld, then you can install plasma-firewall to use as a GUI for it.
