I do both as 0 2 - it is a priority settingg only (AFAIK) not a list… All I have read suggests that only / should be 0 1, CD-ROMS and the like should be 0 0 and the rest 0 2.

You're welcome @sothis6881 . Its good to be a linux user and be on the forum because then you can see other people's issues and learn new things.
I checked my 3 external drives, and thankfully, they are not reported as SMR drives. But reading about SMR on the net, I notice that my external drives perform exactly the way SMR drives are supposed to. Write speeds are good for the first couple of hundred megabytes, and then write speed falls to 2-3 mbps and sometimes even in kbps.
Good part is that I’ll be more aware during my next purchase.
