Hello, I am an idiot (a vent about episode on installing printer)

Okay, I have to share this to you guys…

As some of you know, I installed Arch couple of days ago. I managed to get everything working.

Except printing. That god-damn printing. I think I have used most of my time on this newest installation process of mine to solve, why the hell I can’t print from my WiFi -printer.

Well, after disbelief, uncertainty, countless tears of rage, cursing HP into depths of Hell, and finally laconic but ultimate acceptance that I simply can’t print and that is going to be the way, I looked Arch Wiki umpteenth time and this little paragraph pops into my blurred view of vision:

And yes.

That was the missing package. I had set up nsswitch.conf -file according to instructions, including legendary mdns_minimal [NOTFOUND=return].

But I have heard legends, that it would be actually useful to have that specific package installed, before doing anything that.

I am idiot.

But now I can print.

So I am happy, printing idiot.

(Who doesn’t have anything to print right now)

I have nothing to print either. But I can’t remember how long it’s been since I owned a printer, let alone had anything needing printing. In this day-in-age with online documents and PDFs with electronic signatures, the need for drivers and/or CUPS has never been a bother for me.

Well, my eyes pick it now, @ricklinux:laughing:

You see, Discovery was what I used as guide, because it lists packages more neatly that Arch Wiki…

And the short answer….there are only stupid answers…no question is stupid if you don’t know it….

The Wiki is your friend…….

Sometimes!

Edit: Sometimes the answer is the enemy of your question!

Well…I do guess it all depends……
