Just wanted to introduce myself quickly.
I’m from Austria and I may be one of the older guys here. I consider myself a techie and a nerd. I used computers for almost all of my life. My first computer was a Commodore C128, next was a Commodore Amiga 500, then came my first PC. I was a happy Windows user until Windows 10 was announced. Didn’t like the idea of automatic updates and more and more “telemetry”, so I stayed on 8.1 until I switched to Linux about 1,5 years ago. I did a lot of research before switching and my distro of choice was Manjaro. I liked the idea and philosophy of Arch since I first heard of it, but I didn’t have the time (and nerves) to set it up myself, so Manjaro was the best solution for me then. It was a nice and interresting (but not always flawless) experience. I learned a lot about Linux in this time, although I still consider myself , more or less, a beginner. Lately I somehow got bored a bit with Manjaro (and also wasn’t happy about a few things happening over there; but that’s not the place and time to talk about that) and so I ended up here after installing EOS (with KDE) on one of my machines yesterday.
What else can I tell you about me? I’m a privacy advocate (also a reason why I switched to Linux), I like good SciFi, be it movies, TV or books and I like gaming (currently on my second playthrough of The Witcher 3). And I never have time to do all the things I would like to do because there’s always too much work and just not enough free time;-)
Live long and prosper!
