Having issues with freezes and kernel panic since updating last week

Hey y’all, ran yay and updated all my packages last week and since then I’ve been having issues with the restart button not working (seems to shut down everything except my case fans and then just sit there), the DE (Xfce4 in my case) freezing permanently, and random kernel panics (although those are mostly happening while playing Deadlock so that might just be their alpha being f*cky.)
Any troubleshooting help appreciated.

Seems like the kernel crash has to do with steamwebhelper.

Can you try with kernel linux-lts 6.18.20-1?

Can you try without steamwebhelper?

Isn’t lts mostly for servers and such where stability is needed first and foremost, slightly sub-optimal for personal computers?

Agree that steamwebhelper seems to be suspect, found it in the logs of the crash before the posted one as well, but I largely use this PC for gaming so not sure I can go without steamwebhelper.

It is not “suboptimal”. It is just that the lts kernel eventually does not support the latest and greatest hardware. I personally always use the lts kernel for everything. And performance wise you will not notice any difference.

Even if you do not want to stay with the lts kernel, you should check if your issue also exists with the lts kernel or if it was newly introduced with the recent kernels.
