Gshadow missing entries

I noticed on htop that kde wallet was using cpu so I was looking at my services to try to shut it down. I noticed shadow had failed bc of missing entries in /etc/gshadow. I added them with grpck and the service starts and completes fine now.
However, I’m not sure how the entries came to be missing in the first place . . how might I track this down?

Not sure if it’s relevant but grub-btrfsd also failed on account of .. apparently a number of things . . First was missing inotifywait and now no directory found at /.snapshots. I installed inotify-tools but I’m holding off from satisfying all of its complaints for now until I understand how they popped up in the first place. I just started looking into it so no answers needed on this count rn. (not saying I wouldn’t accept tips )

edit: the missing groups were: uucp, nopasswdlogin, rfkill, and sys
edit2: EnOS installer did my filesystem and partitioning

I’m going to call this more or less solved as the gshadow failure was fixed by manually running grpck

as for the other part (*reads btrfs, fstab, and timeshift manuals*) i believe its unrelated
