Graphical package manager w/ tray icon wanted

So, after today’s pacman update, my graphical package manager (octopi)and thus also my update tray icon (octopi notifier) are broken.
Any suggestions for a replacement?
I miss my update tray icon and really want something smiilar back.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
J.

do you try rebuilding octopi already?

but looks like not compatible for now…

They pretty much all broke because of todays update. Most of them just need to be rebuilt though.

pacman 6 seems to hit the repo a bit out of a sudden  i was also thinking it will take longer to be there …

It looks like libalpm 13 which is the base of pacman 6.x breaks a lot of things. Every single software manager needs to be adapted.

Normal octopi used pacman in options you choose almp or pacman… something like that but noticed some little bugs lately a bit i removed instandly
… pamac is orginal pyalmp now libalmp

It still works in kde but uses some old perl packages.

This is the best GUI I’ve found so far:

Search Arch Repos here:
https://archlinux.org/packages/

Search AUR here:

Everything was fine after the update, pacman 6 didn’t break it at all. They still work incredibly well!

No icon tray needed. It’s Arch, there’s basically ALWAYS an update.

I use Bauh as my package manager and it comes with bauh-tray, a notifier. Has always worked without issue for me. You can change the tray icons in the settings, which is a nice feature, especially since the default bauh icons look like…

Aquarium Treasure Chest

bauh using pyalmp as used pamac before, thats also a differerent strategy… probably when libalmp is updated pyalmp also only thing is if python update you have to rebuild sometimes

I have Bauh also installed just in case something happens with Pamac. But how do you get Bauh show update notifications? So far it hasn’t notified about updates at all.

You have to run and then put ‘bauh-tray’ in your autostart, and then it will sit in your tray and notify you of any updates.

Do you really need update notifications?

I mean, unless you’ve updated right now, there are always updates available.

Octopi fix is already in motion.

From the AUR comments.

Yes I submitted the changes in a pull request of alpm_octopi_utils

Should be fixed soon, will have to rebuild alpm_octopi_utils

I don’t need update notifications. I installed bauh on my girlfriend’s EOS laptop and it would be fun if I could get those notifications work for her… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yes, I put bauh-tray in my autostart applications. But how do I know when there are updates? Does that ugly treasure casket icon change its colour or what?
