Graphic driver installation for old Alienware M11xR1

Well, I had Kernel 6.6 LTS installed, but it didn’t change the resolution problem and even with Nouveau driver the system crashed regularly. I then installed a modified nvidia driver for kernel 6.6 from Github, but only got a black screen…

To be honest, I’m now fed up and have installed the Intel driver for H.264, which basically works. However, the video acceleration only works under X11 and not under Wayland.

The problem with the Intel graphics is that I can’t adjust the brightness. Previously this was only possible with the nvidia graphics.

Are there any ideas on how I can adjust the brightness of the laptop screen?

Unfortunately it seems like you need newer updated hardware. When you installed using nouveau it had the correct resolution for this laptop which is 1366x768
