Google cannot identify you

Try using a different network or VPN, if you use one.

Yeah, I was hoping for some privacy related workarounds to block Google.
Silly me…

Sounds like a feature, not a bug.

If it’s not necessary, I don’t want to set up 2FA in the account either.

Unfortunately, I can’t move my desktop to be on a different wired network. I will see if this happens again if the IP address changes. Otherwise, the workaround is to use this account on the devices where I can log in.

I’m glad you liked the title choice. Out of ten people, how many do not like that Google handles their data? Anyway, what did people say back in Bill Gates’ time? Microsoft wants our good, but we don’t give it.

Google doesn’t have problems with identifying people through VPNs, IP really isn’t that necessary for IDing a user especially when mobile users can have different IPs frequently. Google is VERY good at IDing people and they have become exceedingly efficient at it

Phone tethering?

I do not use phone tethering.

I meant that you should try phone tethering as you can’t switch networks.

This is tantamount to the Holy Grail!

Update. A few days after the ominous incident, I can log in with the affected account on the desktop without any further authentication requests. Another account asked for my security email address as identification before logging in. I remember that the first time this happened, I tried to log into the Google account in the Opera browser. VPN was turned on and Google doesn’t like that. For this reason, it also asked for identification when trying to log in in other browsers and devices and on phones. It is interesting that the VPN function has been in Opera for years, but only now has such a consequence. The lesson is that artificial intelligence is also only human and can make mistakes.
Further on in this thread, we can talk about whether we need Google or not, and if so, for what purpose, I have already thought about this many times.

I wouldn’t call it ominous.
It’s just modern algorithmic arseholery designed to… I don’t know what…
I get similar frustrating, going round in circles, nonsense from my bank while closing all my local branches…
… and 2 factor authorisation just to browse fucking eBay…
… doesn’t stop all the scam phonecalls and text messages, does it?
Crap.

fail?
