Gnome keyboard shortcuts causing strange inputs in apps

when trying to switch virtual desktops with ctrl + alt + arrow-key, its been causing a weird held input. like when ive switched to a desktop with discord open it’ll do stuff like highlight where you type, if i hover over the bar to change someones volume itll either keep making them louder or quieter. if i had to guess its somehow holding a right or left arrow input somehow and then stops once i press the super key.

if anyone knows what i need to do to prevent this from happening would be appreciated ^^

just a guess: you could check gnome settings / accessability / keyboard / locking extra keys

sth. like this… I translated the german GUI names, but if accidentally checked it might cause weird input

Hello,

I have observed something similar here: when changing virtual desktop from somewhere to the one with Lazarus (= Pascal-IDE with Gtk2 GUI), the cursor in Lazarus continuously runs left or right (depending on the direction I come from). Hitting ESC-Buttun stops this imeditely.

No Solution so far. No other Apps spotted with the same behaviour. (Running Gnome/Wayland here).

Hmm.
I have the same problem in Electron applications, specifically in VS Code (when the cursor continuously runs left or right).
I haven’t found a single solution yet.

Hello,

I just tested it: this effect is caused by one of the latest updates!

I booted my old laptop (running plain Arch). There was no such effect AND my Gtk2-Apps (like Lazarus IDE) showed dark theme.

Then updated (about 150 packaged after about a week). After that the Gtk2-Lazarus was displayed in light theme and the effect with moving cursor in IDE (and other similar effects) showed up. No change in settings in between.

So, my guess: this has definetly has to do with this last update. I have no idea, what exactly is causing this.

PS: regarding dark theme one observation: if I select Arc-Dark theme the Lazarus-IDE comes up in dark clothes. (with Adwaita-Dark it does not). No idea, what exactly this means.

I’m having the same issue. It happens on both of my devices regardless of the particular keybinding, causing weird inputs in pycharm and discord. took a while to figure it’s a bug because I also broke my keyboard recently.

Hello all,

I don’t know about PyCharm. But Lazarus is a Gtk2-program; I use Gnome/Wayland and Lazarus runs in XWayland. So, maybe all this is related to Wayland? Just an idea.
