Checking dmesg after coredumps I find a lot of GPU hangs which is strange as I do not have a GPU. Running an Intel Ironlake processor from about 7 or 8 years ago. I have disabled power manage,ment as I am told there is one cause of the problem but it remains. The system is fully updated and I run various desktops including XFCE4, IceWm and Openbox, Ideas ??

That is the exact log/message?
This might be unrelated to your graphics issues, but it seems like that system hasn’t seen any BIOS updates at all. The last BIOS update was published in September of 2014 and you could get it here. Additionally, that update is labeled as critical, not only recommended. Therefore I would personally consider to install it.
CPU and mainboard are both out of 2010, it’s the 1st Generation of Core i5 CPU with pretty limited L3 cache of 4mb. Just as a side note, that it’s almost 16 years old hardware.
That’s true but it seems all the BIOS changes are related to Windows.
Yes the machine is ancient, but it works well for me. After all I am not doing any video editing on this computer

I don’t remember now, but the GPU hangs were always followed by a “ reset” notice.
