Full system freeze while hosting a minecraft server and/or opening a world

Have a minecraft server that ran flawlessly for a few months now, after a restart with many updates behind i started the server and the entire system froze, nothing works other than a hard reset.
looked in the forums and saw a variety of things to blame like nVidia/AMD drivers, and the kernel itself.
and Im not sure at which logs to look at.
would appreciate any help

journalctl -b -1 will show you logs from previous boot (when system hard crashed)

Your BIOS is out of date. Latest one:

Version 3278

2025/08/05

used with grep fail

I do not understand what you said

i ran journalctl -b -1 | grep fail | eos-sendlog

Updated my bios, still crashing
altough at a different point in the server boot.
i noticed that right before the freeze it show a message: install jvm debug symbols to improve profile accuracy

Yep, do not grep fail. You want read full log. You can search also for error , crash

You can also start more debugging. Install lts kernel and see if it will help.

i have seen that there was an issue with 6.16.8 and amdgpu, i have an integrated one which ive now disabled and the issue still occurs, which are the drivers that are safe to remove for this?
or is it better to keep them in case my nvidia card dies?

that worked thanks, gonna stick to main for now and just wait for the update to 6.16.9
