Thank You for changing the forum back—Please discard the HUGE banner…something 25% of the size with links would be better…
What I meant was it is good for people first visiting the site as it links directly to the forums rules etc. However I agree that after being read it becomes useless and viewing it each time is an annoyance
It is possible to get rid of it with ublock origin.

Looks much better with the smaller banner
middle ground … i see point both side ( think expand+close ) happy middle .
I am looking for a solution for a lot of members over here who brought up the issue that a lot of new members couldn’t find the tools previously, making a lot of posts repetitive.
It wasn’t broken, I’m just looking for a solution and that goes with trial and error.
That’s nice solution, although i doubt that people would read it still ![]()
But maybe Don’t show this again button to not get mad with regulars? ![]()
The solution is really good. It would be great if regular users can turn it off in the settings.
That’s the thing, it isn’t there. I thought that once closed it only showed up if you log out and re-login. That is something I couldn’t test in the preview.
It modern times/usr
they lazy to use
May put arrow point to it
( magic search button )
For today, I will leave it as it is. I will continue to look for other solutions, so bear with me. I am only trying to meet up to your requests. ![]()
In the meantime, it only shows for non-logged-in users, to meet your demands. (It isn’t ideal also, but until I find a better solution.)
I’m not seeing it recurring? What are we regulars doing to make it do that?
The usual Discourse solution to a pinned message in that area is a banner topic,

When closed by the user, Banner topics don’t reappear for logged-in users, and will stay hidden for the session of non-logged-in users (i.e. until they reload the page).
If this is what you’re using then I don’t know why it’s working differently. ![]()
Read last @Bryanpwo message, it’s off for now ![]()
Okay then? I took it as he was leaving it this way for now just to get under your skin! ![]()
It’s a plugin that has all the settings you can wish for, EXCEPT, don’t appear again after logged-in users closed it. I thought that would be the case because if it was, it would’ve been a good addition.

You’ve guessed the underlying meaning

I quite like the new search bar at the top. Seems like a decent method to make it easier for newcomers whilst still keeping the old layout.
It is, although I hope that the other banner will receive a fix soon.
Yeah, will be good to show that there is a search function in the forum which will? avoid new users to post the same multiple threads. Thanks ![]()
