I definitely do that! In fact - on several systems I have completely removed grub as well…
If I could get motivated I guess I could put together a little alias + hook setup to autosnap Timeshift as needed - but I keep never needing Timeshift for recovery, which feeds into my laziness I guess!
Speaks for you! I do need it occasionally, but always because my expermenting messed things up, never because of an update breaking the system. 
Makes sense to me… Besides, If I lose too many config, I just ‘borrow’ from another Arch-based distro on the same machine… (this one has EnOS, Arch and Garuda) - or even from another box.
