Firefox sometimes can't close webbrowser tabs

I read the other post about the guy’s Firefox freezing and whatnot. My issue is sometimes I cannot close tabs in Firefox, unless I right-click and choose close. Clicking on the x though does absolutely nothing. This problem happens from time to time, but is frustrating when it happens. Should I disable hardware accelerator like the guy who was experiencing freezing, or is this not the same thing? Any help would be great! thankx in advance…

Only ever had something like ‘tabs not closing’, maybe?, when the tab or firefox as a whole is crashed/frozen.

Maybe more information is needed?

Is this a common occurrence?
Any random tab?
Or specific ones or specific kinds of content?

Other assorted info might make sense too .. like X11 or Wayland, etc .. so inxi;

inxi -Farz

wayland and it happens often enough. i do tend to have A LOT of open tabs maybe that has something to do with it. the whole browser does not crash or freeze. it is just my tabs which is super weird IMO.

Can you trigger it with a fresh profile or safe mode?

( Maybe try also selecting, copying, all tabs and opening in the test browser window. )

Some things that might be useful and/or lesser-known;

firefox --safe-mode
firefox --ProfileManager

Fascinating, I never knew you could do that. It did, however, not trigger it to happen. I honestly have no clue what causes this issue. Last night if I recall correct it happened to me twice? errrr yeah it did.

I imagine this is a really hard problem to fix, as it only seems to occur once in a while. It’s not like we can reproduce it easily. :frowning:

Kind of illusive and whatnot…

Yo bro! :call_me_hand:t6:

I use LibreWolf, dat’s miles better!
That sh*t happens a lot cuz Mozilla doing woke & corrupt sh*t instead of coding, UI freezes like that for bout last 6 years or something.

When you see that - try moving order of tabs, it may unfreeze!
No guarantees though!!!

PEACE

That doesn’t happen me and I sometimes have 20-30 tabs open at a time. It could be an extension causing it, try disabling them and re-enabling one at a time to if one of them causes it.

As it doesnt happen with --safe-mode this is a likely possibility.

Doesn’t happen to me either. But then again, I don’t tend to have many open tabs. :person_shrugging:
