No linux-lts612 packages yet…

Sorry about jumping the gun here. The kernels I saw were the CachyOS ones from the Chaotic AUR; should have known better. I did try the upgrade, but the Nvidia DKMS failed to build the modules - again.

It will take some time to propagate these changes.

Sorry for the possibly stupid question, but how soon can we expect EndeavorOS to switch to kernel 6.19?

The kernels come from Arch. They don’t always release new major kernels immediately.

Do you need it urgently? You can always build one or get it from another source.

It’s done when it’s done.

I prefer a new kernel release to mature. Just today 6.19.2 was released ‘in a hurry’ because there were issues with booting certain systems.

For current 6.19 releases, linux-mainline is available from the AUR, as well as most of the linux-cachyos packages.

there is also a repo having these:

miffe

  • Maintainer: miffe (AUR profile)
  • Description: AUR packages maintained by miffe, e.g. linux-mainline

so you do not need to build locally..
But i would not recommend to use that one as default or at least not alone as the only installed kernel to boot from.

For nvidia users: note that the current version of nvidia-open-dkms (and nvidia-dkms) does not work with kernel 6.19 (dkms is unable to install the modules for that kernel). I assume they will update both at the same time.

Thanks @albersc2 :+1: It seems reasonable to assume that may be a reason they’re not yet available.
