Every time I type yay in the command line, it outputs:
failed to read vcs '~/.cache/yay/vcs.json': EOF
How can I fix this issue? Should I just use other ways to update packages(e.g. pacman)?

I was experiencing this issue as well. I tried just deleting the vcs file mentioned in the output and everything worked again
