Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any experience with Duplicati as a backup solution. They are still in beta but I have no idea how stable or reliable their software is. Here is my use case. This is for a family member running windows, to back up to my homebuilt NAS running EOS with SMB. On my EOS boxes I use Restic, but since 1 windows doesn’t have fuse, so restoring a single file or two would be difficult, and 2 setting it up as a service would likely be difficult I’m looking for something that will work well on Windows. My initial test with a VM looks good, so reaching out to see who has experience with it good bad or otherwise.
Thanks
Sadly no experience with Duplicati, I’ve used Vorta+Borg in the past with great success as it can provide file-level restoration. May be worth a look.
Thanks, Before I switched to restic I was used Borg but found that it would get corrupt from time to time and I would have to create a fresh backup. I’m sure they’ve since fixed what ever issues were causing it. Unfortunately, they don’t have a windows build so won’t fit my use case.
for anyone reading this thread I just discovered kopia which looks great for backup my daughters windows computer to my NAS.
I used duplicati and had multiple irreparable corruptions in a short time.
@dalto, thanks for the heads up. I’ve decided not to go with duplicati because that’s exactly what I was afraid of. For now I’m going with kopia. Wish restic had better windows support as I just restic for all my linux desktops, I know restic “works” on windows, but when I was testing it again I had issues restoring files, they just didn’t end up where they were supposed to. Plus setting it up as a service on windows is a bit of a pain.
