Maybe run Memtest86 just to be sure about the hardware side?
Just a week ago, I helped diagnose my friend’s system with symptoms like that; High resource use programs crashed right at the start or with a few minutes delay. Stresstest was fine; Memtest showed one of the memory sticks to be the cause of the problem.
