Error trying to download 580xx from aur

I’ve used endeavorOS before, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why 580xx drivers won’t download, this is a fresh boot and I was planning to download my necessities, but I’m stumped Q_Q.

I’ve tried to use the git file, yay and paru, but nothing has worked. There’s totally something I’m missing and any help would be appreciated :'-)

Not a bother at all @Denpa, you’ve encountered a genuine issue

From what I can tell, there’s a connection issue of some sort, when you try to download from download.nvidia.com (which resolves to the Akamai CDN).

Are you using a VPN? If not, do you have one you can try? If you are, try switching end-point.
If using WiFi, are you able to temporarily turn that off and plug in via network cable and try?
If you don’t mind using your mobile data to download the 398MB file, you could try hot spotting your phone and using that.
Does your Internet connection often have general connectivity or speed issues?

The issue there is the file downloaded using the mobile, appears to be incomplete, or corrupted in some way. In any case, it failed the checksum, which is how the PKGBUILD confirms the file is the expected file.

The PKGBUILD expects this sha256 checksum for the file:

8d8eb9001e05a9a8a663d3d5d304feb64ef2844ee185ccdfd952786820f46e1b

And I can confirm that checkum is correct, as it matches what’s published here:

I can access the website!

At the moment I’m still using mobile data, as it seems to be the simplest solution other than downloading a VPN ;;

Ok then.

While using the mobile, simply install it as you would normally and let it perform a clean build. That’ll re-download the file and hopefully pass the checksum this time.

Usually, no, it disconnects quite frequently and i get bad ping spikes a lot.

Using mobile data right now it’s very slow, but doesn’t disconnect.

Let’s try using a more robust curl command to pull that file down. This worked for me, but of course, that’s my internet connection:

First, go into yay’s cache for the package:

cd ~/.cache/yay/nvidia-580xx-utils

Delete any existing version of that file that’s already there:

rm NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-580.173.02.run

Then re-download it with this command:

curl -L -C - --http1.1 --retry 50 --retry-delay 5 --retry-all-errors -o NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-580.173.02.run https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/580.173.02/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-580.173.02.run

Then run a checksum to confirm it’s legit!

That may throw more dependency breaking issues, and if it does, please share the output of that.

If it completes cleanly, now install nvidia-580xx-dkms making sure you don’t perform a clean install.

yay -Syu nvidia-580xx-dkms

If you’re doing gaming with Steam, you may also need lib32-nvidia-580xx-utils to replace lib32-nvidia-utils being removed:

yay -Syu lib32-nvidia-580xx-utils
