the CD appears in the home file but when i try to open it…

Did you by any chance had an update to your kernel and didn’t reboot afterwards?
At any rate, you might want to make sure your system is fully updated:
sudo pacman -Syu
and reboot for good measure.

after rebooting, the CD ROM was opened
