looks like at some point eos-arch-news
used xdg-open
, but due to some bug it was changed to only work for firefox
and chromium
https://gitlab.com/Austcool-Walker/PKGBUILDS/-/commit/ce29e1109bdc14c99b56d0673995338bbbeaf1a2
i don’t have either of those browsers installed (am using google-chrome
from AUR). are there any plans to switch back to using xdg-open
?

I thought that is the reason the news didn’t work. I uninstalled Firefox, use Waterfox instead. Hopefully that can be changed to just a ‘default’ browser setting.

just tried undoing that change (commented out the browser stuff and used xdg-open
instead) and it works on my machine

xdg-open should work the same on the iso and an installed system. It can open urls and files.
