what do I need to do

You are trying to install in UEFI mode on an MBR partitioned disk, which is impossible.
The easiest and practical thing to do is to install in MSDOS/Legacy mode.

Confirm your BIOS is set to Legacy boot.
Boot the installer media in MSDOS/Legacy, not UEFI in disk name.
Delete previous Linux/ext4 partitions and create new, according to EnOS wiki tutorials.

Important: Don’t follow random tutorials. Use Endeavor wiki only.

It seems to be possible:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/EFI_system_partition#MBR_partitioned_disks

but with some reservation:

It is recommended to use GPT since some firmwares might not support UEFI/MBR booting due to it not being supported by Windows Setup.

installer after

I would bet not on this system…

On some it is called CSM and possible that you have the settings for usb and harddrives boot in different places in “Bios”

Yeah…

But generally speaking, it is not that it is impossible to have a UEFI boot on a MBR disk if the firmware supports it.

I installed successfully at some point and was in, but after rebooting it became like this

this looks more like you do not take the right boot drive to boot…

i am confused about what exactly is working for you and what not… the install logs i see are both failed installs, with no bootloader installed and missing 1/3 of the install process.

Help child, you are my only hope

Then you may try chroot to the installed system and re-install grub, and/or verify there are no mistakes in fstab, and proper flags on partitions.

That’s why it was/is recommended to not install on UEFI with MBR.

Does this look better @pebcak ? :joy: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

 :+1:

if installed in efi mode… it could be that it will help to reinstall grub files into ESP as it will also set boot entry in firmware as default…

It was successful, but his memory usage is very large, more than 1g

you can check what is causing this from terminal running glances

But if you have a Browser open 1GB is normal  around 2GB when having some tabs open …
