Endeavour OS is crashing constantly, no other linux distro I tried does this

EOS doesn’t crash all the time matter of fact I’ve never had it crash on 5 different desktops and laptops. I’ve been using it for going into the 6th year. BTW i use btrfs.

Did you recently install additional RAM, like all slots occupied now? If so, put their voltage little by little.
In any case, like others suggested, this might take some hours:

  • Do a RAM test from a live system’s GRUB menu. Unsure if included in the EOS one though. Mint has it for sure.

I installed additional ram, but it was a few years ago. how would I undervolt ram?
Also I did a memtest and so far there doesnt seem to be errord (except for the fact that my ram is running at 80 degress celcius)

from my experience, if all slots are occupied, voltage needs to go up a little.
this wasn’t the case for my laptop though with 2 slots, but in desktop with 4 which I think is over 70°C constantly as well.
I can post my temps later below.

took me many headaches and days to figure out.

to figure out how to overvolt ram?
also one more thing, my fedora system has had one kernel panic, here are dmesg logs from that

also do I need to overvolt the ram or undervolt it?
thank you

you could do that in your (uefi-)bios menu.

um I have this 2018 thinkpad laptop thats not meant for gaming, would the options even be there?
also, I need to overvolt it, not undervolt it? wouldnt that make the temp higher?

youre still figuring out your system crashes
so far … did you complete a full memory test?

The log shows segmentation faults of xdg-dekstop-portal and hyprland:

[ 26.805898] xdg-desktop-por[1218]: segfault at 64 ip 00007f697d49f08c sp 00007ffee23b6ad0 error 6 in libwayland-client.so.0.23.0[608c,7f697d49c000+7000] likely on CPU 4 (core 2, socket 0)
[ 26.819064] Hyprland[1077]: segfault at 8 ip 00007f5577e1ef9f sp 00007ffc9e703ec8 error 6 in libwayland-server.so.0.23.0[7f9f,7f5577e1b000+9000] likely on CPU 2 (core 1, socket 0)

So you are using hyprland?

Instead of saying: “Endeavour OS is crashing constantly, no other linux distro I tried does this” you could also say “hyprland is crashing”. Which brings me to my main point: Why havent you provided any meaningful information about your system so far?

We have now 48 posts in this thread and this is the first info about what is actually crashing. Honestly, this is too late.

Anyways, have you tried other DE’s like xfce, kde, gnome, etc.? Have you tried other versions of hyprland? Have you tried hyprland without wayland?

sorry, I really should have mentioned that. yes, I am using hyprland. however, when I used kde it still had the same problems. Strangely, reinstalling endeavour and setting the filesystem to btrfs instead of ext4 like I did before fixed the error: My system hasnt crashed at all (so far)
I’m very sorry for the confusion, If my system crashes anymore ill update you guys on this
