Hello Forum,
After playing a little bit with Endeavour installation in VirtualBox I have now done it: I installed the Endeavour OS on the SSD of my new Laptop.
The installation went well in general:
- wanted BTRFS with Grub as bootloader
- I missed the point where to specify the full FS encryption
- I stopped the installation, when I realized and wanted to go back to activate, but that was not possible. (VM installation was with that enabled, but could not remember, where to enable)
- I ended in partitioning tab with no chance to further go forward (as I don’t wanted to change something; “next” was disabled
) – only chance: deleted SWAP, then I could proceed the installation process (maybe this is a bug and is not intended)
- Gnome-flavour (maybe something lighter will come later: xfce, sway, hyprland)
- Remark: after reboot there was no bluetooth activated (no mouse
): had to do
systemctl start bluetooth; systemctl enable bluetooth
by hand
- Remark: after reboot there was no bluetooth activated (no mouse
So, I now have Endeavour with no SWAP and no encryption.
First, Installed Swapper and BTRFS-Assistant which run’s well, as I could see so far. Also, started to modify/adjust Gnome environment, install some extensions.
But before going on I have to decide, if I redo calculation to
- enable SWAP (Swap-file on BTRFS should be possible even now; would like a dedicated SWAP partition though, as it was in default layout)
- I would like to go with full FS encryption; but I guess it is not possible to change this now (after installation) → that would mean re-installation (no big deal, as not much work invested so far)
But all in all, I am sure Endeavour is what I like to have on this machine.
Ciao,
