Thanks for the first link! Already had DT like most of his videos too
This is good to know. I tried Spacemacs, but wasnāt thrilled. Doom looks/seems like a better choice. And DT has good videos on it.
Lately Iāve been seriously contemplating Doom Emacs exactly for the reasons youāve mentioned. Any recommendations on how to start, or should I just dive in (YOLO)?
Thereās nothing better than ādiving inā when you want to try something different. For one thing, different people have different preferences on what they prefer. As for me, Iāve tried both SpaceEmacs and DoomEmacs; being a long time classic user of both Emacs and XEmacs, both before and after a more complete graphical environment was provided, so Iām used to writing my own Emacs Lisp configurations for the things Iām interested in, and therefore I wasnāt looking for these additions. Iām not, by any means discouraging anyone; in fact I suggest trying multiple alternatives and each of us to decide which of them to use, or if Emacs is the tool we prefer to use or not. I used to use it a great deal; now, itās more of a āthing to rememberā for me as opposed to a tool I absolutely have to have, since Iām now retired; these days, browsers and simple editors or notepads are sufficient for 80-90% of my daily needs, perhaps a higher percentage than that.
