Doesn't load DE on start on loading

Hello, new user here trying out EndeavourOS for the first time.

I’ve installed on VM which went very smoothly. Reboot and it runs through the usual stuff, then it gets to the loading screen and I have to select ‘login to existing OS’ to get to the desktop. I deleted the VM and reinstalled to see if I’d missed something but the result was the same.

What have I missed?

Many thanks, Martin

What VM did you install? And what DE did you use? It is hard to help without knowing all information.

Hello Dinomonster and thanks for the quick reply.

The VM is Vitual Box and I’m using my favourite xfce DE.

And to be more specific WHAT actually happens? I may be missing something, but this sounds confusing. So do you get to desktop on VM? Or on your main OS?

I am really confused.

And once again OP disappears when he is asked more information.

This is infuriating behaviour. Why to ask help if you don’t want it?

This seems to be happening more and more lately.

never mind - trolls are everywhere…

This was what I was also thinking. I am nowadays really suspicious about these kind of accounts, which have been created only few hours ago.

With all these corps investing in AI I would not doubt that a lot of these type accounts are designed to get answers for its AI to swoop up during a search. Everyone needs to train their AI and everyone wants to do it for FREE

Hello folks, I back from the New Year celebrations (sorry to have to interrupt the conversation!)

I’m also back with a sincere and embarrassed (and embarrassing) apology! :anguished:

As soon as I left the machine last night I suddenly realized what I’d done but with people arriving for new year’s eve I couldn’t get back into the office to try it.

In my defense it’s the first time I’ve used Virtual Box since they’ve updated the design and in my haste I had forgotten to disconnect the iso so the VM was constantly referring back to the iso rather than the install!

Anyway…the apologies. I sincerely apologise to all those folks who wasted their time trying to work out my ridiculous (non) problem and then who took the time try to assist me. You are a credit to the forum.

On the plus side I now have a fully functioning EndeavourOS VM that loads wonderfully and I’ve learnt to check Virtual Box properly!

Thank you all again and may I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year!
