Does Deepin File Manager support dark mode in a KDE environment?

I have a set of applications from the Deepin environment that I’m using in KDE.
Terminal, Image Viewer, Screen Capture
They all support dark mode.
Today I installed Deepin File Manager.
It’s only in a light theme.
There are no options in the settings to change the theme.
What should I do?

You should not use Deepin anything . That’s what.

To be serious, though, Deepin seems to use Qt, so kvantum + qt6ct and qt5ct should allow you to change themes.

Also, if you are just seeking a “pretty” file manager, you could try Index instead. It’s directly from the Maui/KDE team.

As a general rule, Deepin only works well on Deepin distro (I don’t think that has changed).

Does it support opening the folder with a single click? I can’t find it in the settings.

I don’t use it. Some weeks ago, I installed it for a few minutes to test it, didn’t like it, removed it. Don’t remember its settings.

Why don’t you just use Dolphin anyway (since you’re on KDE)?

And if you just want to have two file managers installed for separate tasks, then I’d recommend Nemo. It uses GTK, so it can look as simple or as pretty as you want.

But unlike pretty much every other file manager that isn’t Dolphin, it has almost every feature someone would want, including single-click to open files and folders — a feature Dolphin also has.

Some advice about file managers:

  • If features are your focus, use Dolphin or Nemo, or maybe Thunar. Oh, and Krusader.
  • If simplicity or “aesthetic” is your focus, and you don’t mind missing basic features, use anything else.

Thunar toes the line in both categories, as it’s not exactly “pretty” out of the box, nor is it as feature-full as Dolphin/Nemo. But it does have most basic features, it not all.
