Has to be dark mode for me, not just the forums but any application of website. I use my PC in dark environments and white interfaces are blinding to me as I tend to be sensitive to bright things in general, I also prefer the text white, I feel I can read it better over black text on white background. I guess I relate to this image is what I’m saying.

I have a weird retinal condition that makes my eyes over-sensitive (to the degree that I have to wear sunglasses all year round, or be forced spend any time outside squinting and eventually giving myself a tension headache) so it’s dark mode all day everywhere I possibly can, for me.
I even have my e-reader in dark mode.

I’m very much on the dark mode hype train. The above sums up my personal reasoning 
I’d argue there are real advantages to dark mode though.
- Depending on your screen technology, OLED for example, it may reduce power usage.
- It reduces risk of screen burn-in.
- Less blue-light emission, which may help you sleep.
- Less light emission which may have benefits (a bedroom, sensitive eyes, etc).

I like Solarized a lot. I use a mix of Solarized Dark and Solarized light, I love how both are coloured to work well when mixing and matching.
I use dark mode almost everywhere because it doesn’t hurt my light-sensitive eyes as much. Darkreader (Addon) helps to some extent, but sometimes it makes pages that don’t have dark mode difficult to read. Having a real dark mode is always better. Many thanks for that.

Well, I’ve used dark mode on the forum since registration, I suppose, so no real change for me.
Only in my work I use light mode, since on the bright day dark mode is almost unreadable, but apart from that count me in the dark mode train!

I kind of prefer dark but I always just leave forums on whatever their default is. This forum looks decent both ways
The only website I always desperately needed a dark theme for was youtube. Years before they made it dark I was using custom scripts.
Holy moly I wasn’t aware this topic was even a thing but it’s dark man, oh so dark!

I wield the purple light saber which symbolizes the holder’s complex balance between the light and darkness of the Force. It visualizes the holder’s inner struggle and their extraordinary ability to navigate both sides of the Force without falling into darkness. It is a symbol of “Balance”.

Personal opinion that means nothing, the forums landing page is absolutely hideous now.

Yup most forums are, at least this is one of the better ones. Of course that’s just an opinion.

That dark theme was a most unpleasant surprise - my older eyes work much better with light background/dark text.
To be clear, there is a choice between light and dark themes on the forum and the main website.
The dark theme has been an option on this forum since September 2019 and inspired the current Calamares theme we have had in use since 2020. Therefore I decided to get it all connected.

Would it be possible in the future to be able to switch the Calamares theme to light in the live environment so as not to screw up your eyes during the installation process?
