Current state of uniform Windowdecorations

So, is there any way to get the same window decoration style in all applications under plasma? I see at least three different currently. My settings:

Can I achieve a uniform look&feel in 2026?

Hi @milkytwix,

Unfortunately getting a 100% uniform look across all apps under any Linux desktop is basically impossible — and it’s not a Plasma problem, it’s a toolkit problem.

It depens how the tool is build. You can get pretty close with some tweaking. But not 100%.

The three culprits:

  1. Native KDE/Qt apps — use KWin decorations, follow your Breeze settings perfectly
  2. GTK apps (Firefox, Thunar, GIMP etc.) — use their own decoration or GTK’s, often ignore KWin
  3. Electron/Chrome apps (VSCode, Slack, Discord) — draw their own titlebars entirely

Hope this makes things more clear.

I know where this is coming from, I am asking if there is a new state of avoiding this…

Some applications, like Vivaldi, or Vscode allow you to change a setting to use the system decorations. It may be worth checking the applications you’re using to see if they do.

Manual tweaking… But still not for 100% (electron)
