i have heard it in some places that these soundcards have not been working under linux. my girlfriend has one also a friend. and not being able to get them to produce sound has been the one thing stopping them from switching to Linux.
I had similar issues with my E-mu soundcard so i tried a live Endeavour boot key on GFs computer and fiddled about.
Primarily making sure the soundcard mode was set to Pro Audio in Plasma. and then opening Alsamixer in terminal, switching to the soundcard, and making sure all relevent outputs were unmuted and their volumes turned up.
i had a recording looped in Audacity and the output set to Alsa (as is default) and making sure the sound device with more than 2 listed aux outputs in plasma sound settings was the default, and sound appeared. I also had a Patchmix app open to be sure of routing. so if anyone is wondering. yes you can use this card under Linux. and shouldnt have to install any extra stuff. im not sure the exact thing i did that enabled it, but im pretty sure its stuff muted or zero’d out volume-wise at the Alsa Level that was the issue. since Linux always saw the card in the past, but never outputted any sound. my experience with my own E-Mu card made me try this rout after my gf and friend searched for several years for a solution and finding nothing.

I know the tool, they recommended it to me as replacement for nahimic for windows. Yet i never “tweaked” my sounds as i am fine with it “as is” under Linux. I did thought it is a control center since you can change alot in it.
i think its been an issue under some other distros, also my gf and my friend with same card had trouble finding a documented fix for their problem and chalked it up to no proper support. i just added my findings in case someone else had the problem and couldn’t find a fix XD
i’ll look at the easy effects thing if i need to do any extra tweaking down the road :v
On my old PC, an Intel I7 3770k, I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium, which runs on Linux. Both in the Arch and derivatives world, and on Debian 13, which I installed now (having an old nVidia 980 ti, perhaps it’s better this way).
I had a Soundblaster AE-7 and AE-5 and they never worked with any linux distro in my setup. By any I mean it was so bad that no distro was booting up at all. They all froze at boot before they were able to show any gui with odd error message. I even tried to open a bug report on the linux kernel bug report page and It is still open today with no real fix incoming. I ended up using my video card HDMI connection through a AVR to get audio.
