CPU and GPU temp 10 degrees higher since update: kwin_wayland ?

Since an update 2–3 weeks ago, the CPU and GPU temperatures have been about 10 degrees Celsius higher.

What makes kwin_wayland so busy?
What can I do to bring the temperatures back down?
