it hangs my system up so tight that system monitor stops responding k runner fails to launch, ←that took 5 minutes to type-hangs, this has been going on for 17-18 minutes now.
IS there a way to start this install using a don’t use more than 50% CPU and take your time and auto say YES on everything kinda command…I mean it is kinda ridiculous.
GLAD I AM NOT a dev. This would drive me nuts if I did it all the time.
Anyway to make it so I can still use the PC while the compiling is going on?
It’s really strange cause after 35 minutes of this it is now rocketed to 99.5% CPU usage and the system is still VERY responsive and the compiling is STILL going on so what was with the first 35 minutes?
Have you adjusted the /etc/makepkg.conf file at all?
You can either enable or disable parallel compilation. Typically enabling it speeds up compilation, but also engages more CPU cores to do so, perhaps slowing down the rest of the system.
So in your case, if that’s enabled, you might want to disable it?

It is worth considering, that it is sometimes impractical to self-compile certain packages. Even on modern powerful multi-core systems, some packages take hours to compile, and may fail at any time during that, particularly if you’re using a -git version.
The version of jellyfin-media-player you’re trying to install (if I got the right package there), is marked as “legacy”.
