What I really wonder about is Why are they doing this? To me it seems like a departure from the core mission of bringing Commodore back from the grave. Don’t get me wrong I totally get the nostalgia factor, and the fact they can pull if off with modern hardware is really cool. But I don’t see how a phone is going to help move them forward, it looks like a diversion and cheapening of the brand.

If they wanted to bring commondore back they probabaly created some PC as steam deck stuff like or something
The commodore brand has been acquired by a YouTuber last year.
And there has been a kickstarter campaign back in 2022 already. Which was mostly an ITX case that was based upon the original C64 tooling molds and had been approved by the original brand owners that also had approved the sale of reproductions of the C64 enclosures already.
In short, a YouTube guy that specialized in retro nostalgia now already ships a ‘new’ C64 Ultimate, using the old mold tooling. But with an AMD Xilinx FPGA emulating the C64 and modern interfaces. Essentially competing with the MiSTer FPGA.
