In general, there’s at least updates daily. Realistically you could update every few hours or even more. So, personally I don’t bother checking anymore.

The only thing I check first is the Arch News site: https://www.archlinux.org/news/

Yes. That’s right. I do that as well as per your recommendation many moons ago. As far as pacman goes though, I don’t bother there since there’s essentially always updates to be had.
