You’re going to have to play with it. To be said I am running a portable Ungoogled Chromium on Windows. Could be differences there too.
I think I found the error. I tested to download uBlock Origin from the page. It’s 0 bytes.
The one called extension_1_32_4_0.crx works.
Thanks for following through this, I really appreciate it.
Looks like I got the one on the left side though I didn’t notice that it was empty
But how do you get the correct one?
That’s what I’m trying to remember It’s been a few weeks since I played with this. I only use uBlock Origin and it’s the only one I saved.
It wasn’t that hard.
This is how the link should look for uBlock Origin:
https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx?response=redirect&acceptformat=crx2,crx3&prodversion=87.0.4280.141&x=id%3Dcjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm%26installsource%3Dondemand%26uc
You’ll see it on the ungoogled-chromium FAQ. Just replace [VERSION] and [EXTENSION_ID] to what you have. In my case I use 87.0.4280.141 and for uBlock Origin it is: cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm on[EXTENSION_ID].
All files come from the web store so is safe to download.
Feel embarrassed for not having occasion to dig further into this. I’ll look into the matter within shortly.
Thanks once again! I appreciate your help!
Is there any other way to synchronize bookmarks in chromium?
Yes, e.g.
Today is the day…
For me it’s tomorrow!
2021-03-14T00:00:00Z
Same for me. Its 14 March, 1545 hours right now. I meant today’s the last day to experience sync.
I have actually started to move away from Google services. The “hard” thing is still my Android phone.
I nearly use no google service apart from what my college forces upon me and YouTube. Sometimes I use Maps for navigation. I still cannot find an alternative to YouTube for music that can predict exactly the kind of songs I like. Yes its scary to see YouTube knowing exactly what I like to listen.
Back in July last year, YouTube showed Mariya Takeuchi’s Plastic Love in my suggestion for nearly three weeks until I finally clicked it. And on listening it, I felt like it was the song I had been wanting to listen since long.
Yes, its very scary living with YouTube, but nobody knows me better than YouTube.
So true! Google sees deep into a man’s soul!
With your own consent, guys!!!
It’s Kind of like start smoking at early age. One should have known better. Then spending the rest of one’s life struggling to be a “non-smoking” smoker.
On Arch, we should have lost sync a couple of weeks ago if packages are up-to-date.
https://archlinux.org/news/chromium-losing-sync-support-in-early-march/
I use chrome so didn’t realise that.
Chrome is not my main browser. Use it only for Google meet that my uni forces upon us.
Meh, Google might have “officially” removed it from Chromium but it still works with the correct runtime flags.
(And no, I’m not going to post them on the open web - but support for the flags was patched into the Arch Chromium package, and the values are in the Chromium source tree.)
Chromium sometimes feels more snappy then Firefox in the default settings (probably because it is doing DNS look-ups on all the URL’s on pages) and preloading pages you might visit if you hover over a URL, or however they do it, I just can’t use it as a daily driver.
Firefox is just a browser that nicely fit’s into your Linux theme setup and blends in well. Chromium forces it’s own UI and that’s ugly.
Anyway, with those flags, what about encryption key’s or however that works? Can’t they just change that? Or are those changes documented somewhere and therefore we can always just pick up new keys and build chromium with that?
Sorry if I am spouting nonsense and feel free to correct me!
