Can't update google-chrome, fakeroot can't set permissions to 0777

Having a problem updating/installing google-chrome stable from the aur.

I get this message.

==> Entering fakeroot environment...
==> Starting package()...
./etc/cron.daily/google-chrome: Can't set permissions to 0777: Invalid argument
./usr/bin/google-chrome-stable: Can't set permissions to 0777: Invalid argument
./usr/share/man/man1/google-chrome.1.gz: Can't set permissions to 0777: Invalid argument

It seems fakeroot cannot set permissions to 0777. If I try to reinstall fakeroot it also gives a warning about not being able to set permissions to 0777 but I have no idea how to fix this.

Are you using an AUR helper or building the AUR package manually? I just tried building the package manually and it builds just fine.

I’ve tried both and have the same problem either way. It isn’t specific to this package, now that other packages need updates I get a ton of warnings about not being able to set permissions to 0777. Sometimes it still works and sometimes it fails.

Fixed my own very stupid problem. I apparently had not rebooted in a fairly long time on this particular pc. After a reboot everything is working normally.
