Can't connect Android device via USB

What’s the difference between the two systems?

Laptop is Fedora + Gnome, Computer is EOS + KDE

OK, so they are completely different and therefore not really comparable.

For KDE, MTP support is built-in to Dolphin:

so all you need is kio-extras and USB transfer enabled on the phone.

This appears to be a hardware issue (port or cable). Try a different one of both.

I have kio-extras installed:

$ pacman -Q kio-extras
kio-extras 21.08.1-1

I already tried a different port and a different cable.

Something you could have mentioned earlier, perhaps? If you don’t mention things you have already tried then you’ll end up getting those more common suggestions again.

Have you tried any different kernels, e.g. linux-lts?

Sometimes I try to bypass a problem rather than beating my head against a wall… What is the end result desired here? You have access by USB from the laptop already, so that should handle any OS installs or the like for you - and if all you need is file transfer, that is more easily done without a cable if there is wireless in the local network. So - a little clarification? :grin:

The problem fixed itself with an update. Thanks for the help! :slight_smile:

Nice. What were the packages upgraded on your last update?

grep -i upgraded /var/log/pacman.log

If I run the command, the result is empty. But I assume, that it was not fixed with the last update anyways, as I update daily, and just noticed today that it suddenly worked.
