Cannot use yay to update AUR packages

Thanks for a great little program! It has helped me out now a couple of times when the AUR wasn’t available.

I didn’t have the time to investigate further when I encountered the issue, but I will keep an eye on it and report back on the Github bug tracker if necessary.

Yes, but grimaur automates this. A lot easier if you have several packages to upgrade.

had it this morning but like you I don’t have it now.

short-term loss is common lately as there are bad actors (ddos)

It’s affecting me also. I can update except AUR. I don’t understand. Is it just the AUR that Arch is having issues with DDOS attacks?

Same here. Just tried the traditional yay update, and it was a no-go.

When you install and update packages, you are using one of Archlinux’s mirrors. There are hundreds of mirrors out there. They cannot simultaneously DDoS hundreds of mirrors so they still work. However, when updating AUR apps, there is only one mirror for the AUR at
https://aur.archlinux.org/
if that one mirror is down due to a DDoS attack you are SOL.

There is a way to get around this, but it requires time and patience. Best to wait until the AUR is available again. I was having trouble this afternoon, but right now (20:30 US central time 10/26/25) it is working for me.

This is exactly what i wanted to know. Makes sense now. I thought they had more than one AUR mirror. Never really thought about that. Thanks @Pudge

Thanks @Pudge about the explanation of the single mirror for AUR at https://aur.archlinux.org. That helps.

Will try next week then. Hopefully will not brick my system.
