BRTFS or EXT4

If you stick with ext4 I found this article that nicely describes the rationale of all the standard linux partitions that you may encounter.

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding. I just don’t know (or can’t remember) if he read my other threads or posts.
So, I’m just clarifying. He said:

Which gave me an impression he didn’t read my other posts.

And I assure you, I am confident about myself, my capacity and willingness to learn. In some other posts I confirmed I never give up, I’ll be after all the issues till I sort it out, which I actually did.

Really interesting link. It gives me a clearer understanding of the file system.
Thank you very much.

But you know what… this experience of multiple reinstallation over a few days, trying BTRFS, EXT4… XFCE then add another DE, then another… just confirmed an old ā€œwisdomā€ saying ā€œBetter follow the defaults while installing or configuringā€, but my curiosity makes me not to follow this ā€œwisdomā€ and be unwise.

It worked perfectly when I installed KDE Plasma online, and just followed the defaults.

You are welcome. I was also thinking about the many questions you had. If you look into too many things at the same time you may start getting confused. It may be good to get solid basics and understanding with your main system and then create a ā€œsandboxā€ in a VW where you are allowed to unleash and test whatever you want without breaking anything important. And have your fun with linux

I dont know much about btrfs and zfs but it is interesting. Also learning a lot from this forum.

yeah… lots of questions pop up in my head all the time… honestly I feal exhausted after installing like 7 times in a weak! I’ll take a break for a couple days then install VirtualBox and play with it.

Yeah, I read about both and they seem interesting, especially the snapshot and fix corrupted files. But… for BTRFS which I tried, there are a few issues. Hopefully in a year or two it will be the default.

I never ever thought I could learn that much in a matter of a few days.
This forum is really amazing.

 that is intense!

Oh yeah VB is really good one for testing and learn without breaking out something.
