Broadom wl stop working

Or you could have edited the following line in /etc/pacman.conf from

#IgnorePkg   =

to

IgnorePkg = wpa_supplicant

When updating, pacman will give a reminder that

an upgrade FROM wpa_supplicant-2:2.10-8 TO wpa_suppicant-2:2.11-2 is being ignored

or something similar.

Then when the newest version of the Ignored package shows up, comment out that line in pacman.conf

ARM FYI
wpa_supplicant-2:2.11-2 is not available in aarch64 yet. It should become available in a day or so.

Have you tried that?

I have had all the same issues mentioned previously.

Upgrading to the new version wpa_supplicant 2:2.11.2 and rebooting did NOT work for me and still has my WiFi not functioning.

Downgrading to wpa_supplicant-2:2.10-8 and rebooting is a temporary fix that worked for me until this can be solved long term. I’ve placed this package into /etc/pacman.conf for now.

IgnorePkg = wpa_supplicant

Odd. This must be targeting very specific machines. Both my late 2014 MacMini and my 2021 Samsung Galaxy Book Pro laptop are fine after updating to wpa_supplicant 2:2.11.2.

Testing has revealed that wpa_supplicant-2:2.11-2 has fixed the problem on x86_64 architecture computers.

wpa_supplicant-2:2.11-2 did not fix ARM devices on aarch64 architectures such as Pinebook Pro and Raspberry PI devices.

Any additional information on what architectures are working and failing would be useful.

@UncleSpellbinder
What architecture does the MacMini and Samsung Galaxy Book Pro have ?

@robot_horse
What architecture is the computer you have failing. ARM aarch64 is my guess.

I guess that explains it. Both my machines are x86_64.

@Pudge The affected machine is an x86 Dell XPS 15 9550.

I tried upgrading again on my x86 Dell XPS 15 9550 and the latest version of wpa_supplicant: 2.11-2 did not work again. Wanted to double check but this is still a bug for my laptop. I’ve reverted again to 2.10-8.

Don’t expect a quick fix on this one. I think 2.10-8 will be your friend for a while.

I know it has been 9 months, but just wanted to update here that the latest package
wpa_supplicant-2:2.11-3-x86_64
still does not work on my system.

I am still downgrading to keep my system working with the network with version:
wpa_supplicant-2_2.10-8-x86_64

As a quick summary, my system is a x86_64, Dell XPS 15 9550.

Hope everyone is well.

Thanks for the feedback.
Until wpa_supplicant adds the info for your particular WiFi chip it will still fail.
I am guessing it is still a long way off, if ever.
