guys …i feel something is missing . I’m on Mint now for , idk, a month or two ?
I’m bored outa my mind , there is nothing to do , nothing to troubleshoot , nothing to fix .
It doesn’t feel like Linux lol
I use to love going on forums and try pitch in or solve something i’m having a problem with , but now …just nothing
I’m on the Mint forum but find myself having nothing to say . I don’t have a question , and I don’t have answers cause nothing similar has happened to me. I feel useless lol
Point I’m trying to make : Mint is proper BORING,every damn thing is just working (for me)
I don’t even use the terminal anymore for anything . Every day i just get a pop up from update manager , I update by clicking “update” …and that bloody it . No fuss no hassle .
oh well, quess that’s a good thing , but still , I miss messing around with stuff to make my PC work like i want to .
PS : pls don’t get me wrong , I’m not dissing Arch . I loved it , but I needed something that just works ALL THE TIME
If you love the boredom of Mint and want to tinker, I’ll give you a tip…
Switch to MX Linux and learn how to use and master the snapshot tool.
If you’re dedicated, after a week or two, you’ll release your own distro… well, sort of…
But yeah, Mint is cool if you don’t like to tinker. I do, so it’s not my daily. Endeavour is.
You can tinker just the same in Linux Mint. They don’t take away yoursudo from you.
Its package base is not rolling, no, but it is not immutable either. Alright you don’t have AUR either. But installing packages from AUR is not something I associate with “tinkering”.
They don’t, but customising the system that is fully ready to work does not spark the same joy as building your system from ground up, like Arch, Debian, Gentoo and to some extent Endeavour.
It’s mainly changing the cosmetics.
The secret ingredient is throwing config files into /etc/skel directory.
If you then choose the option to create a distributable ISO, the config files will be transferred to the live session.
