Books, what are you reading right now?

Just finished this book.

An impressive read. Lots of parallels with our current times. Many memorable characters. Well written.

I’ll get some more books by Remarque.

I’ve watched many interviews of Michio Kaku & those who are against his field i.e. String theory. I’m more inclined towards others argument that String theory will never succeed though currently we don’t have any better alternative theory than String theory.
My opinion based on others arguments/discussion only.

Like many theories (particularly in physics), discussion, debate, and disagreement are healthy and necessary.

Interesting discussion here…

It’s too bizarre to be true in our world. Kaku also accepted that with our current technology experimental verification not possible, though we’re getting signs from other experiments that String theory could be true. So for now it’s work in progress, theoretical physics only.

Exactly. Which is why I find the field of theoretical physics so fascinating.

I know it seems trashy in these times. But it’s really interesting and scary at the same time.

It’s taken me a long time but I’m now convinced Bukowski is the greatest American poet since Walt Whitman. Reading an Anthology. One of a handful.
Computer Poem:

with an Apple Macintosh
you can’t run Radio Shack programs
in its disc drive.
nor can a Commodore 64
drive read a file
you have created on an
IBM Personal Computer.
both Kaypro and Osborne computers use
the CP/M operating system
but can’t read each other’s
handwriting
for they format (write
on) discs in different
ways.
the Tandy 2000 runs MS-DOS but
can’t use most programs produced for
the IBM Personal Computer

altered

the turkey buzzard struts and
flounces before his

Read this one as a kid, might have to revisit it for nostalgia.
