Basic Compter Terms (1976)

@swh My first ever Windows was in 1993 (Windows 3.11), then Win98. (I got late 1999) and was suffering with it from day one. Even on just first boot when I got it just out of the box it gave me an error message!

I kept suffering, reinstalling… till I was done with Windows by like April/May 2000 when I thought there must be other operating systems. (I just thought banks, ministries of defense can’t be really using this nonsense) then I discovered Linux and like June 2000 after searching and reading the web I got my first ever Linux, it was Suse that time.

I kept like dual booting for like 3 years (Just in case, but was mainly booting and using Suse all the time, I just had Windows as a backup just in case, just as an emergency fall back, but I didn’t really need it). And by 2003 and since then I had ONLY one Linux on my home laptop.

Ah, Chyrosran22. The king of keyboard reviewers. His content never fails to entertain. But beware, you may end up purchasing stuff you don’t really need. Or at least some cursing, burping … and strong language in case of hideous keyboard designs.

Weeell… I’ve still kept one of the old original “clicky” IBM keyboards… But I’m not a fanatic—I do enjoy looking back to great times in my life, but wouldn’t go buy a PPC 5155 “just because”. Or an old PDP-11, Nova 3, ASR-33 or the like. Using newer stuff can also be satisfying. Maybe in 20 years or so I can tell my grandchildren “At that time, I used something called ‘EndeavourOS’!”, who knows…

@MyNameIsRichard That cartridge with the assembler tools would’ve been nice! But I did wire-up my own 8K RAM expansion board – woohoo! 13K of RAM!

Curious: Did anyone else get in on the whole “Chicago” (Win95) beta craze that started in '92? I was a beta tester, received a bunch of swag from M$, went to the Seattle event, etc. It was kind of a crazy time.
