my hdajackretask
:
I didn’t change anything as it doesnt look like there is anything to really change. I am not sure why it only shows the Intel Skylake HDMI codec. I am ultra novice with this type of stuff
In the top box for codec it say’s HDMI. Is there no other?
There is no other, no.
What does advance overide show?

I’m sure it’s not using the right device.
Hmm. Ill have to read some documentation on how to switch devices then. Any inputs on where to search?

Is this a recent install or long time running it?
Edit: Have you ever had sof-firmware installed? I’m not sure if this intel chip needs it?
Edit:
pacman -Qi sof-firmware
It is a relatively recent install
Some Intel chips require it and i think it’s part of the packages now anyway. that’s why i asked.
pacman -Qi sof-firmware

This may have been something I installed during my quest to fix
I think it’s part of the packages now anyway.
Edit Have you tried any kernel parameters?
You could try this one added to the command line in grub. Use nano and edit the grub command line.
Add this and save the file and then update grub.
snd-intel-dspcfg.dsp_driver=1
Pardon. What file should I update? Surely not /etc/default/grub
right?
Yes try adding it to the default grub command line and save the file. Use nano as an editor. Then update grub with
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
reboot after
If this doesn’t work you can remove it with the reverse process and update grub again with the entry removed.
