Backup my system before running update

Hey,
Any suggestions on how to make complete system backup before any update?
I use ext4 for / partition.
If I want to use BTRFS snapshots, do I need a system re-install or there is a way to keep my instalation?

Hello @alilo, welcome to the forum.
You can convert from ext3/4 to btrfs if there is enough free space on the partition.
Read here https://discovery.endeavouros.com/installation/btrfs-basic-information-and-troubleshooting/2023/07/ and here (convert is under 6.2) https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Btrfs

Hello, welcome to EOS:enos: community.
If files are important always better to backup before trying anything

You might take a look at timeshift. I’ve never used it, so I can’t say how well it does/doesn’t work. Timeshift is in the Arch Extra repo.

Seeing as how many potential problems can be fixed, or averted by paying careful attention to detail and output during updating, I would advise to back up your data and not worry so much about it.
