Autumn has come

Today was the day when we decided to put heating on. It can go under zero celsius this night in here Finland. There was freezing wind whole day and leaves have started to become yellow so autumn really is here.

What kind of weather there have been where you are right now?

Today the website says it feels like July at 93F for the day’s high. I am so sick of heat and drought. I’m for SURE not running the heating

It’s been weird here, about 4 weeks ago it was starting to get really hot, then the cold came back but it’s started warming up again in the last couple of weeks. Normally I would have put the warm blankets and jumpers away by now.

25°C during the day where I live (central Poland).
Definitely not the time to put heating on, even though it’s getting cold at night…

We were at 99F today (Austin, TX, USA). Looking forward to the arrival of Fall

Rainy season in Thailand - so now it’s hovering around 29 degrees… Not so many Americans here right now because they’re enjoying 70 degrees outside

Just another month or two to end the rainy season, and hopefully a long and cool ‘Winter’ ranging from maybe 21 up to hopefully less than 30.

Well I just went for a walk, left with a jacket, by the time I got home jacket and long pants were off (I wear my clothes in layers), and I was sweating heats. Temperature is only 26c but the humidity is 39%

I miss the times when it was easy to tell the difference between seasons. Nowadays with climate change it’s much more complicated. There’s no real winters in Finland anymore. I’m pretty sure soon we’ll have only three seasons left. Not that I like winters much. If it’s up to me, I would prefer to wear only t-shirt and shorts through the year…

I think if I had to get rid of one season, it would be summer.
I would prefer to live in a land of eternal spring…truth be told.
I hear you though…I know that Christmas before last, it was 80F that day and most people were outside in shorts.

It was 94°F/ 35°C in Highland, Indiana , USA today. Supposed to be cooler the next few days, but Autumn doesn’t seem close here.

where I am at it does not cool down til November. Where my family is at in western NY [which I consider the real beginning of the Midwest] it fluctuates between between 20 degrees to 95 degrees, with power outages, wind storms, and days that break air conditioners. For western NY this is normal non-winter months like now.
where I am at it will stay triple digits until the end of October. It really gets old.

The USA has such varied terrains, pressure zones, and weather that a ‘traditional Autumn’ will not come to 50% of it and that’s OK

Highland, Indiana is roughly 25 miles from downtown Chicago. During the Summer months, we get to 100°F (37°C) and even higher. During the Winter months, we get high temperatures during the daylight hours of -25°F (-32°C).

Northern hemisphere here - Sea climate. The weather here is rather like summer still, but with nights becoming cooler. Many trees are beginning to change colours. We’ve had a period of cold, grey, rainy days already, with people wearing coats, and some even turning their heating on again. But for now summer seems to be back for a bit. People are in shorts and t-shirts again.

In the morning near 4:00 AM there’s a light ice on the windshields, and when I drive home at 4:00 PM we got 22°C.

When I went grocery shopping yesterday it was 26°, everybody was out strolling, in summer cloths. The sun was shining, birds chirping. It’s probably the last throws of the summer. A good day.

That’s so true. I remember from childhood that there was so much more snow in the winters. We probably never get back to that. I would like that there would be eternal spring, because you can start to wear lighter clothing and there are no blood-sucking things yet.

Looks like you nailed the autumn equinox for the northern hemisphere, - nights are now longer than days, although thankfully, not hitting minus temps here yet. May your logs burn brightly!

I remember, albeit forty years ago, being waist deep in snow at times… now, we’re lucky if we get an inch or two at best. There’s been a change for sure. I miss snow, the way it muffled the world and laid everything to rest. Peaceful out in the wilds. I look out my back window and for the most part, it’s just a brownish golden haze of hills, fields and farms all the way to the horizon. It used to be completely white in winter.
