AUR down or something on my end?

True, but someone said they had problems with Steam these days here, in addition to the AUR problem (even if they are unrelated).

Okay, but I agree with UncleSpellbinder on this.

They’re not handling it very well in terms of communication.

also in that thread was a guy who said it was a big DDOS thing…

…all I know is today it failed, then I updated reflectors and mirrors and it worked, then later today I tried it and it failed.

1 out 3 attempts pretty lame but what ya gonna do?

It looks like this Arch/AUR issue is starting to hit the Linux online magazines.

Just saw this from Linuxiac.

Hee hee, looks like they secretly read our suggestions here and finally find a heart to communicate! :+1:  A good thing.

I’d have to say the aur access is fixed. I’ve updated a handful of times since last night.

What would possibly motivate the Bad Guys to do this. Aren’t normal DDOS attacks directed toward large for-profit Corps or Govs or those with overt political stances and/or high profiles? Arch doesn’t seem to fit the bill of one’s wrath…unless it was some guy kicked off the arch forums…or bill gates

Maybe a personal grudge of some sort towards Arch or related to Arch.

yeah appears personal you are probably right

Some people see nice things and just want to break them, like a challenge, to feed their destructive nature.

spent the last couple decades avoiding these types. really bad karma for sure.

Maybe they’re getting paid by some company to make it seem like Linux is just as vulnerable to stuff like DDoS attacks, malware, and all that—just to throw off new users.

Also, July and August (um, actually july 31) have been plagued by trojanized AUR packages, which have been removed promptly. Maybe the poor kid was seeking revenge by ddos’ing the server.

You know what those August packages were? Also GOD when are they bringing them back up. I need my software updated, can’t even launch inkscape or codebases.

Now What Company Would Benefit from that I wonder

Yes …AI is not a good thing in all hands.

getting ddos’d out of net isnt so rare occurrence, i mean that once i played first person shooter i had a “bad“ grenade throw, i wounded my team member. it took like 30 minutes and i were ddos’d by a week.

I started to notice issues where my gnome-shell would crash during gaming and I would end up in my gdm login screen again. The issue is mentioned by other is the 580 release topic as well as problems with gtk4 apps.

So I reverted back to the 575 driver because it’s just annoying each time that happens when you are playing a coop game and you get kicked out of your desktop session.
