Asus ROG Zephyrus

Has anyone installed EndeavourOS on ROG Zephyrus? I have have been thinking about installing it on one with Ryzen 9 and GeForce 3040. Is it going to be doomed try?

I guess you won’t know until you give it a try.

If you already have the laptop please try about post about your experiences.

If not, I wouldn’t buy it if I didn’t find some reports on it or at least how linux fares on this hardware with this this OEM in general. I bought a razer blade, assuming that linux would run on anything nowadays (because all hardware I so far was supported well except for a fingerprint reader), and am sorely disappointed. There seem to be all kinds of weird issues, some of which I have been unable to find any solution to.

edit: came back because this thread was in my unreads and realized i made a very bad typo, I meant to say “If you already…” not “I already” :grimacing:

Okay, here’s what I have done so far:

  • Tried live system and it loads up correctly.
  • Tested WiFi and it doesn’t seem to find out my WiFi network. What is strange is the fact that it seems to find my phone, but can’t connect to it.
  • Internet through USB works well.

So here’s little info what’s going on.

What does it show for the WiFi chip

I installed system using USB-connection and now Wifi works. Maybe there was some driver that was not loaded on live. Thanks for help!

Alright. For now Zephyrus seems to be working well on EOS. I installed Steam and asusctl and rog-control-center. I’m using X now because Wayland had graphical glitches on Steam app, but this seems to be how things are right now considering Wayland.

So far things are going nicely.
