Yes, I read this post. The recommended checkupdates -d are good, but the subsequent pacman -Syu does not update the AUR packages. So then the best solution is still just checkupdates, which updates the packages from each repo and of course asks for the password.
And if there are updates and you answer Y THEN ask for password.
This is my last response, as I fear I am beating a dead horse… lol
